HOW WE CAN HELP YOU, THE LAWYER

An Expert Witness Nurse can:

  • Review medical records;
  • Read between the lines;
  • Interpret the notes;
  • See what’s missing;
  • Establish what should have been done;
  • Figure out exactly what happened to your client;
  • Conduct research;
  • Identify standards of care and relevant policies;
  • Prepare reports and summaries on the extent of injury or illness; and
  • Recommend other experts e.g. nurses, doctors, occupational therapists.
  • An Expert Witness Nurse may be able to come to you to review and discuss the medical records. This will save you time and money. There will be no need to courier huge briefs to Experts until you know you have a case.
  • All documents I receive now are email attachments.

While the lawyer is the expert on legal issues, the Expert Witness Nurse Consultant is the expert on nursing and the healthcare system. Healthcare terminology used in medical records is full of information on charts and medication sheets. There are abbreviations and intricate details which lawyers may not understand. I can interpret those medical records and charts for you, examine all the care given to the patient [your client] using my knowledge and expertise as a healthcare professional and then explain it all to you.

As a registered nurse and expert witness nurse consultant, I can provide expert evidence related to nursing standards of care. My in-depth knowledge of hospital / medical records is often critical to accomplishing a good outcome for all parties. I have more than 30 years of nursing experience and more than 20 years of writing medico-legal reports that can provide the underpinning of your client’s case.

Choosing the right expert for your case is essential. Ideally, a combination of qualifications, training and experience should appear on the expert’s curriculum vita. Ask me for mine. Phone me on 0408121331 or email me at info@expertwitnessnurse.com.au. If you would like to have a teleconference with me about a case, please phone or email me. I do not charge for teleconferences.
